Since 1908, The University of British Columbia (UBC) has been educating a population of more than 50,000 students on two major campuses, while building an international reputation for excellence in advanced research and learning.

In 1949, UBC moved to offer distance education correspondence courses with the goal of helping those who are unable to have a university education due to location or time constraints. From its early form as correspondence courses to innovative online graduate programs, today’s distance education at UBC continues to change and evolve to meet the needs of the community.
